What's up with Temper?

Hello Again.

It’s been a minute since EHChocolatier, and I’ve missed making sweets for people who care about them. After a two-year break, I’m back, this time with something smaller, more local, and a little more easy going: Temper Confections, a small-batch chocolate venture based in Cambridge, MA.

What’s Temper Confections All About?
Think of it as EHChocolatier’s little cousin. I make small-batch confections—handmade chocolates, seasonal candy, caramels, cookies—whatever I’m into at the moment, and what I hear back from customers.

Expect a rotating lineup of treats, including returning favorites from EHChocolatier. Everything’s made in small batches for local chocolate lovers in the Cambridge and Boston area.

What’s Different?
This time around, it’s more relaxed. Fewer frills, less packaging, and no storefront. Just good chocolate made fresh, in small quantities, using a more sustainable approach.

Same attention to flavor. Same quality. Just with a lighter footprint.

How does it work?
Limited Releases: I announce chocolate drops through the newsletter—subscribers always get first notice.
Local Pickup in Cambridge, MA: All orders are available for pickup at Albertine Press in Cambridge. No shipping (yet), just easy local access for Boston-area chocolate fans.
Shipping (Maybe?): For folks beyond Greater Boston, I’m exploring shipping options—stay tuned.

Why the Change?
After years of structure and scaling, I wanted to make chocolate more simply. No big operations. No storefront. Just well-made treats, released when they’re ready and shared directly with you.

About
Elaine Hsieh (SEE-ya) fell in love with sweets through a childhood Easy-Bake Oven and never looked back—except for a 20-year detour into medicine as a practicing internist and healthcare consultant. As co-founder of EHChocolatier, a boutique chocolate company based in West Cambridge for over 14 years, Elaine earned national recognition for balanced flavors, textures, beautiful chocolates, and a thoughtful approach to sweets. Their confections were named Boston Magazine’s “Best Chocolate” multiple times and featured in Food & Wine’s list of the “Best Chocolates in the U.S," as well as receiving "Best in Box" from The New York Times. The company built a loyal following, known for its clean finishes, seasonal creativity, and cult-favorite status among discerning chocolate lovers, locally and beyond.

Trained at the Cambridge School of Culinary Arts in Cambridge, MA and Ecole Chocolat in Vancouver, BC, Elaine now mentors women-owned small businesses through the national non-profit organization, SCORE, Inc., while launching her latest venture, Temper Confections, bringing her love for sweets to a new chapter.

Want to Stay in the Loop?
The best way is the newsletter. I only send it when there’s something worth sharing: new chocolate drops, pickup times, or what’s in the next round. If you're in Cambridge, Somerville, or anywhere near Boston and want first dibs on small-batch sweets, you can sign up here. No spam. Just sweets. :)
